The Youthrive team, alongside a diverse group of young rural and regional leaders, visited the ABC building in Melbourne as part of their ‘Melbourne Mini-Break’ leadership event.
Our group got to tour the ABC building and hear from sound, lighting and on-air technicians about the ‘behind-the-scenes’ aspects of television. Two young Triple J presenters also shared their unique stories that got them to the positions they are in today.
It was a very rewarding experience for many, allowing these young people to look inward and gain a deeper understanding of where they come from, what ‘home’ feels like, and what is important to them.
They were asked to answer questions like:
One of the participants, Ella, really enjoyed the ABC experience. ‘Getting to see behind the scenes of the ABC studio was really interesting and eye opening. I enjoyed seeing the Q&A set!’
Thank you to ABC and the Heywire team for hosting our 30 rural and regional Victorian leaders in an excellent workshop!
